Master in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics
Admission to the University of Zürich
Applicants to the specialized Master
programme in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics must have a Bachelors degree or
equivalent at the start of the programme, and must also have
sufficient knowledge of English to be able to follow the
lectures. Students who will complete their degree after the
application deadline must enclose a statement from their home
university to certify that they are expected to have completed
their Bachelors degree by September 1st of the year in which they
wish to begin their Master studies.

In addition to the required documents add the following documents:
- Recommendation letter: We require
letters of recommendation from two scientists who are familiar
with your previous academic work, and who can judge your
potential as a Master student. It is your responsibility to
ensure that the letters reach us by the application deadline.
- Personal statement: State the reason why you want to participarte in the Masters program. Describe how it relates to your previous studies, and how graduation from the program would benefit your future career.
Assessment and selection procedure
Applications are reviewed by an admissions committee composed
of faculty members from both UZH and ETH. Short-listed candidates
may be invited for interview in Zurich. Selection for admission
is based on the committee's assessment of the student's ability
to perform well in the programme. Offers of admission to the
Master programme will be made as soon as possible after the
application deadline. All applicants, including those
unsuccessful, will be notified of the result of their
application. No decisions will be given over the telephone.
Successful applicants must confirm their participation in the
programme at the latest four weeks after they have been accepted.
