Post-doctoral positions

Usually, we do not specifically advertise for PhD student and Post-doc positions. A doctoral thesis or a Post-doc can be started at any time throughout the year at the University of Zürich.

As we continuously receive applications outnumbering the available positions, only applications with specific interest in structural biology research and or interest/experience in the specific programs listed below, from highly qualified applicants, are taken into account.

You should have studied chemistry, biology, biochemistry or physics. Practical experience in one of the following topics would be advantageous:

• protein chemistry
• molecular biology

The official language for all research seminars, progress reports, and other official activities in the lab is English.

You will be able to work in one of the following research programs of the group:

• structural and functional analysis of proteases
• structure and fonction studies of signaling pathways in apoptosis and inflammation
• structural and functional analysis of membrane transporters
• Designed Ankyrin Repeat Proteins(DARPin) and scFv as new tools in structural biology

The various projects are at different stages. Crystals are available in some programs, while in other programs the desired protein has to be produced and conditions for crystallization have to be found and optimized.
