Initial Xtal Screens

When screening for crystallization conditions, it is important to minimize the chemical redundancy between the screens you choose. It is even more critical when working with membrane proteins where it is desirable to screen the most crystallization space with the limited sample you have.

Janet Newman has created a very useful tool to compare the similarity between commercially available crystallization screens. Access this tool by using the guest account from the C6 server: Comparison of Crystallization Conditions @ C3

The C6 Web Tool: A Resource for the Rational Selection of Crystallization Conditions
Janet Newman, Vincent J. Fazio, Brian Lawson and Thomas S.Peat
Cryst. Growth Des., 2010, 10 (6), pp 2785–2792

Eddie Pryor from Anatrace analyzed commercially available membrane protein crystallization screens using the C6 server and made the raw data available through the CCP4 bulletin board: Protein_Screen_Comparison
