The Location of the Department of Biochemistry


You may travel by public transport

  • from Zurich main station, tram stop Bahnhofplatz, tram No 10 (direction Oerlikon or Airport) to Irchel. Walk about 3 min. to the university main entrance (see map above).
  • from Zurich main station, tram stop Bahnhofplatz or Bahnhofquai, tram No 14 (direction Seebach) to Milchbuck. Walk about 6 min. to the university main entrance (see map above).
  • from Zurich airport, tram No 10 (direction Hauptbahnhof) to Milchbuck or Irchel.

You may travel by car

  • Highway A1 from Winterthur or highway A51 from Airport Zurich Kloten towards Zürich/Zürich-City. Take exit "Schwamendingen" and follow the signs to "Universität Irchel/Tierspital".
  • Highway A1 from Bern/Basel towards Airport Zurich/Winterthur/St. Gallen to interchange "Zürich-Ost" then towards Zürich-City. Take exit "Schwamendingen" and follow the signs to "Universität Irchel/Tierspital".
  • Highway A3/A4 from Chur/Luzern towards Bern/Basel until interchange "Limmattaler Kreuz" then towards Airport/Winterthur/St. Gallen to interchange "Zürich-Ost" then towards Zürich-City. Take exit "Schwamendingen" and follow the signs to "Universität Irchel/Tierspital".

You may travel by taxi

The transfer from Zurich Airport to the Irchel campus of the University of Zurich is particularly easy by taxi. There is a taxi stand at the Irchel next to one of the two main entrances. The transfer by taxi is much more expensive than the use of public transport. It costs about CHF 70.- (return fare).
