Raimund Dutzler

Raimund Dutzler was born in Austria and studied Biochemistry at the University of Vienna. He received his PhD in Biophysics from the Biozentrum of the University of Basel. Raimund Dutzler conducted his postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Nobel laureate Roderick MacKinnon at the Rockefeller University in New York.

Raimund Dutzler joined the Department of Biochemistry in August 2003. As of September 1st 2009, he has been promoted to Full Professor of Biochemistry.

His research group is focused on the mechanisms of trans-membrane ion transport. The group takes a multidisciplinary approach combining biochemistry X-ray crystallography and electrophysiology to study the structure and function of ion channels and ion transporters.

Raimund Dutzler is involved in the following lecture series:
Biochemistry:
BCH 630 Protein Crystallography and Protein Structure Validation
BCH 301.1 Molecular Cell Biology
BCH 403 Progress Reports
BCH 405 Research Seminar

Medicine:
609 Lecture Human Biology, Metabolism
